Archos Wi-Fi Portable Media Player Shacks Up

The Archos 605 Wi-fi PMP offers a full touch-enabled 4.3" screen and a whopping 30GB hard disc. That's enough space to store, 40 full-length movies, 300,000 photos or 15,000 songs.

The Archos 605 Wi-Fi has a suggested retail of $299.99 and only a thickness of about 15mm. 80GB and 160GB versions are in the works and their thickness is only about 20mm on average.

The Archos 605 will play all your digital entertainment: movies, TV shows, photos and music and allow you to record TV shows as well as stream and watch videos from your PC. You'll be able to download movies and music directly on your PMP using the ARCHOS Content Portal and even surf the web, share content and access video websites.

Archos is also bringing out a stack of accessories and plug-ins to let you use the Archos 605 how you want to such as the DVR Station 5, which allows you to record from TV and video sources at DVD quality and the DVR Travel Adapter Gen 5 which allows you to connect and record from multiple types of video sources. Other accessories include the Helmet Camcorder  that allows you to record the world around you right to your Archos PMP with built in remote and microphone.

Others include cassette adapters, headphones, USB cables, power adapters and cases.
You can even download and install plug-ins to extend the functionality of your Archos 605 to include Web TV and radio, video podcasting, DVD, MPEG2 and AC3 codecs and web browsing.

Radio Shack is including $30 worth of free content with every Archos 605 from the ARCHOS Media Club, a content portal where users download favorite movies,
TV shows or games wirelessly and directly on to their PMP, for any ARCHOS
devices that are purchased in-store.
