Apple's new MacBook Family Makes High-End Affordable

The new precision unibody-enclosure is made from a single piece of aluminum and results in a thinner design for the MacBook and 15-inch Macbook Pro without sacrificing style and looks. Plus they are all packed with Intel Core2 Duo processors and DDR3 RAM.

But the looks aren't the only thing in the new MacBooks that Apple has beefed up, all of the new members in the family come complete with NVIDIA GeForce 9400M-powered, back-lit, instant-on LCD panels and new glass Multi-touch trackpads with 40% more space for finer control. All of that was done without needing to resort to chemicals harmful to the environment in the flame retardants, internal cables and they used only mercury and arsenic free glass. So it's not only stylish, powerful and more affordable but also less harmful to the environment in the long run.

Surprisingly all of this innovation comes in at a much lower cost than previous versions of Apple's popular notebooks.

The smallest of the new MacBooks, the 13-inch, comes in at only 0.95 inches and weighs only 4.5 pounds for just $1,299 to start. Two versions are available – a 2.0GHz, 160GB version and a 2.4GHz, 250GB version with back-lit keyboard.

The 17-inch MacBook Pro also got an upgrade along with its cousin, the MacBook Air. The Air is only 0.76 inches thick at its thickest and weighs only three pounds. It also features theGeForce 9400M and a choice of 120GB standard or solid state drive.

It has a starting price of $1,799. Meanwhile the 17-inch Pro retains the features that made it popular but now has a high-resolution 1920x1000 pixel display and a choice between a 320GB drive or a 128GB solid state drive. Prices start at around $2,799.Finally, an updated 13-inch White MacBook Air is available with a 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a 120GB 5400 rpm hard drive and a slot-load 8X SuperDrive for $999.

Apple has set the standard in stylish yet capable notebooks for those who can afford it, but now they are bringing the MacBook to the masses with the lower prices and wider selection. Perhaps it's time to make a switch.
