Acer Aspire 8920G

Acer recently announced the debut of its new high-quality High-Definition Gemstone Blue notebook. The unique 18.4-inch footprint for true HD is combined with an exclusive design, innovative materials and textures, and Dolby audio enhancements to make this portable computer something to behold. All you true HD fans who want to take the experience with you and have the cash to drop should definitely check out this multimedia workhorse.

It all starts with the Intel Core 2 Duo processor at 1.83 or 2.60Ghz and up to 4GB of RAM to drive the experience. Worried about storage? No need with the SATA hard drive bay that can accommodate up to 320GB and the integrated Blu-Ray Disc drive, which can read CDs, DVDs and more in addition to B-D discs. To ensure crisp HD visuals, the Acer Aspire 8920G is built on the Cinecrystal full HD 18.4” WUXGA+ LCD. That means you can get your HD video in 16:9 with a lightning-quick 8ms HD response time and up to 1920x1080 resolution – as well as 16.7 million colors. You can manage it all with the innovative CineDash control panel, which takes multimedia control to a whole new level.

Those that might want to take a break from all that HD video and play a game needn’t fear, for the computer also sports an NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS or 9650M GS, with up to 512MB of memory that can be expanded up to 768MB via sharing. Perhaps gaming isn’t your thing but you want to stay in contact with the family while on the road? Well the integrated Crystal Eye webcam will let them see you no matter where you are.

The Acer CineSurround system features five speakers and an Acer Tuba CineBass, so you can feel that HD film as well as see it. When you’re on location you can use the VGA and HDMI (with HDCP) ports to expand your viewing area or give that all-important business presentation.

Everyone needs connections, and the Acer Aspire 8920G is fully connected. Aside from the integrated Wi-Fi, VGA and HDMI ports, the unit also features a 6-in-1 card reader for MMC, MMCplus, SD, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and xD card. Further connectivity is provided by the onboard modem and gigabit network adapters, Infrared, USB, ExpressCard/54, and Bluetooth 2.0 capabilities, which round out an already well-rounded machine. All this in only 9.0 lbs of hardware and a 17.4” x 11.8” x 1.7” form factor. The 8920G is preloaded with either Windows Vista Home Premium or Vista Ultimate so you have the latest in operating system power as well as hardware.

This notebook not only screams “performance,” it also screams “cool.”  With its unique holographic 3D finish, its Starlit backlight beneath a floating Acer logo, and iridescent midnight sapphire coloring its got internal and external lighting effects that would grab the attention of Mulder and Scully. On the screen, under the hood, and all over, the 8920G gives a new meaning to “cool blue.”
